The One-ders

I love feedback about my blog. Especially if it’s from more than one person. That way at least I know that I have more than a solitary reader. But it’s a little concerning when people take my posts seriously and start giving serious feedback about it. Hence, I would like to clarify one thing to my 500 million readers. Please do not take my posts seriously. Especially the ones in which I crib ( someone pointed out that all I do on my blog is crib. If that is the case do not take any of my posts seriously) The posts are all in good humour. I might crib, but it is my way of  making you guys laugh.

Now that we have that out of the way, back to my post. Ever come across an old song which you really love and then wonder whatever happened to that artist? Happens a lot with me. Especially for the old indipop songs. There are loads of artists, who came up with one or maybe two brilliant songs and then completely disappeared.  The one hit wonders. This one’s for them. Presenting to you, my list of the One-ders.

To start of with, a song by some guy called Parvez. No clue who he is. No clue about his whereabouts. But nice song. The model in the song seems familiar doesn’t she? . Last seen parading around as a snake on cinema screens.

Next up, Chandani Raatein by Various Artists. Lovely song. The singer has a very nice voice. Wonder who the various artists are though.

If I had to pick a favourite from this list, this song would come pretty close to it. Great song , great video. Any idea who the artist is?

The next song is so obscure that I cannot even find its video. In the age of Youtube, that’s saying a lot. Though i did manage to get my hands on the songs, the video is missing. My memories of this song are the sadhus with the laptops and this thin guy following a girl, singing this song.

You might remember Abbey singing Khallas in Ram Gopal Verma’s Company. He gets on to the list for a different song. Aye Sanam was a rage in those days- in my house. My brother and me loved this song. Ok, only I loved it. I still do. I think it’s a freaking masterpiece. Abbey definitely should have come up with more songs.

Agosh was apparently formed by 3 IIT graduates. They must have got better jobs, because they don’t seem to make music no more.

By the band more popular for Dooba Dooba, Jadugar is another fine song by Silk Route. Though this band did come up with a couple of more albums after their first one ( Boondein ) they certainly didnt become as popular as they should have been. Mohit Chauhan has become a big name in Bollywood but whatever happened to the other two guys?

The next song I am not particularly fond of, but I think it was quite popular back then. Jojo with woh kaun thi. I wonder yeh Jojo kaun hai?

In the days before the internet, this Pakistani song somehow made its way to India. Though Ali Haider became more popular for Purani Jeans, which is  still sung at every college get together, I personally like this song much more.

Remo Fernandes is by no means an unknown artist. Nor is this his only hit. But he makes it to the list because he did not provide us with more of such songs.

To round of the list, The Colonial Cousins. definitely not unknown. definitely not one hit wonders. But they were brilliant. And they left us wanting more and more. I certainly didnt get enough of them. I still keep hoping, someday these guys will get back together and make some music.
